Women's Golf moves into first place tie after third round of OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — The Ohio Northern women's golf team moved into a first place after the second day of the 2025 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern is tied for first out of nine teams with a 322-326-344—992.
- Mount Union is also tied for first place with a 320-329-343—992, Otterbein is third at 338-338-341-338—1017 and Heidelberg is fourth with a 337-349-345—1031.
- The teams played 27 of the tournament's 72 holes on Saturday after playing 27 on Friday.

- Junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) holds a one shot lead in the 44-women field with a 21-over par 79-76-82—237.
- Senior Amelia Burger (Centerville) is tied for second with a 76-80-83—239.
- Freshman Mallory Meister (Milan/Edison) is ninth with an 83-82-91—256.
- Freshman Taylor Blackburn (Liberty Township/Lakota West) is tied for 19th with an 84-92-89—265.
- Sixth-year senior Torrie Smith (Kokomo, Ind./Western) is tied for 19th with an 87-88-90—265.
Notables
- Ohio Northern is looking for its fourth OAC Championships title after winning the crown in 2024, 2021 and 2007.
- Thus far this season, Alfes leads the team with an 81.0 average for 17 rounds, with Burger right behind at 81.8 for 16 rounds.
- Blackburn is third at 85.5 for 15 rounds.
- The Championship is a 72-hole event with 27 holes on Friday and Saturday and 18 holes on the final day.
