Burman wraps up NCAA III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships with 20th place finish in hammer throw

GENEVA — Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) finished 20th in the hammer throw on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on an overcast Saturday morning.

• Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the discus with a toss of 41.14 meters on Thursday in very challenging weather conditions with temperatures in the 50s and a driving rain hindering the athletes throughout the competition to earn All-America honors on Thursday.
• Friend was seeded 13th in the shot put at 14.00 meters and finished 13th at 13.46 meters on Friday.
• This is her first appearance at the NCAA III Championships.
• Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) was ninth in the pole vault by clearing 3.85 meters on Thursday.
• She was seeded eighth by clearing 3.95 meters earnlier this spring.
• She earned All-America honors outdoors last season by finishing fifth in the event with a height of 3.86 meters.
• The top 22 in each individual event and the top 16 relays at the end of the season qualified for the NCAA III Championships May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio.
• Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 534-178-3 in women's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .745.
