Women's Track and Field wins second consecutive OAC Outdoor Championships crown

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team won its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships crown on a stormy Friday.

- Record: Ohio Northern (44-5 Overall).
- Venue: Williams Stadium - Wilmington, Ohio.
Meet Results
- Ohio Northern was first of 10 teams with 213 points.
- Mount Union was second with 196.25 points, John Carroll was second with 163.25 points and Baldwin Wallace was third with 86.25 points.
- The meet consisted of 21 events, including eight field events, 10 running events and three relays.
- The top three individual finishers in each event and the top three relays earn All-Conference honors.
Top ONU Performers - Day 2
- Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) won the shot put and the hammer for the second consecutive season to lead the Polar Bears.
- She won the shot put with a school record toss of 14.25 meters and claimed the hammer throw at 52.37 meters.
- Senior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) won the 400 hurdles in 1:03.01 and was All-Conference in the 100 hurdles, finishing third in :14.85.
- Ohio Northern took the top four places in the shot put.
- Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was second in the shot at 14.00 meters and was second in the hammer at 50.75 meters to earn All-OAC honors in both events.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) was All-Conference in the shot by finishing third in 13.20 meters.
- Juniors Lauryn Wolters (Anna) and Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) earned All-Conference honors in the triple jump.
- Wolters was second at 10.83 meters and Ford was third at 10.74 meters.
- Junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) was third in the 5k in 18:00.18 to earn All-Conference kudos.
- The 4x100 relay team of freshman Anastacia Rogan (Bellefontaine/Calvary Christian), senior Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland), freshman Kendyl Stone (Ashland) and sophomore Paige Simpson (Merrillville, Ind.) were fourth in a school record :48.36.
Top ONU Performers - Day 1
- Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) won the discus with a heave of 41.58 meters.
- Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) and Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) finished 1-2 in the pole vault.
- Schweller won by clearing 3.80 meters and Ford was second at 3.53 meters. Both earned All-Conference honors.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) won the high jump by clearing 1.62 meters.
- Junior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) and sophomore AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) earned All-OAC kudos in the 3000 Steeplechase with personal best times.
- Armbruster was second in 11:16.43 and Gower was third in 11:19.12.
Notables
- Ohio Northern won its fifth OAC Outdoor Championships title in 2025.
- The Polar Bears won six events, including five of the eight field events.
- Burman and Friend were named Co-Field Athletes of the Meet.
- The Ohio Northern coaching staff was named the OAC Women's Staff of the Meet.
- Burman broke her own record in the shot by nearly two feet, winning at 46' 9".

- Armbruster remained No. 2 on ONU's top-10 list in the 3000 steeple, while Gower moved into the No. 3 spot on the list.
- Freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) finished fourth in the 400 with a personal best 57.63, which keeps her in third on ONU's all-time list.
- Schweller currently ranks eighth nationally in the pole vault at 3.94 meters.
- Ford is currently ranked No. 24 nationally in the event.
- Burman is now ranked 12th nationally in the hammer and 5th nationally in the shot.
- Friend is now tied for 10th nationally in the shot and is No. 29 nationally in the discus.
- The top 22 in each event at the end of the season qualify for the NCAA III Championships May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 534-178-3 in women's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .745.
