Burman, Friend, Gibson, Rader named All-Academic Athletes; Ohio Northern women's team named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

ADA — Ohio Northern juniors Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton), Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) and Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) and sophomore Kennedy Rader (Mason) were named All-Academic Athletes for 2024 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Ohio Northern women's track and field team was also named an All-Academic Team for 2024 by the USTFCCCA.
To be eligible for All-Academic Athlete honors, each student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.30 and must have posted an individual top 50 mark in the nation or competed on a top-35 relay team nationally.
The Polar Bears finished the 2024 season with a 3.36 GPA. To be eligible for All-Academic Team status, the squad must have a team GPA of 3.10 or better.
Burman is an NCAA III Championships qualifier indoors in the weight throw, where she led the region with an effort of 17.90 meters.
An accounting major, Burman is now a 4-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree and was named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference this season.
She was an OAC Champion this year indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the shot out and hammer throw.
Burman was also named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators.
Gibson is a 5-time All-OAC honoree, earning the award in the triple jump, long jump and as part of a 4x100 relay team.
She was in the top-50 regionally in seven events this year, earning All-Region honors in the long jump outdoors.
She is also a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree, an Academic All-District honoree and is majoring in biology/pre-vet.
Friend was top-50 in five events this year and was All-Region and the OAC Champion in the discus outdoors.
She is a two-time Academic All-OAC award winner, an Academic All-District honoree and is majoring in psychology.
Rader is a three-time All-OAC honoree and had a top-50 finishes in the 10,000 meters outdoor this year.
She is majoring in psychology.
