Women's Tennis sweeps doubles courts, opens spring break trip with 6-2 victory over Macalester (Minn.)

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept the doubles courts and opened its annual spring break trip with a 6-2 victory over Macalester (Minn.) on Sunday night at the United States Tennis Academy.

- The Polar Bears swept the doubles courts with sophomores Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) and Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) winning 8-5 at No. 1
- Sophomore Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and junior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
- Junior Miranda Wills (Ada) and junior Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
- Freshman Molly McLane (Westerville/Big Walnut) made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
- Cruser clinched the match at 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3.
- MC won at No. 4 to make it 5-1.
- Bell gave ONU a 6-1 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
- The Scots won a three-set win at No. 5 singles.
- Hurst's No. 1 singles match was called with the score even at 6-2, 3-6, 5-5.
