COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 3 Christopher Newport (Va.) in a neutral-site game at Capital on Sunday afternoon.

The Match
- Following a scoreless first half, the Polar Bears scored the first goal of the game after drawing a yellow card on CNU goalkeeper Amy Sidaway. Senior Emma Cook (Marysville/Fairbanks) converted the ensuing penalty kick to put ONU up 1-0.
- The ONU defense continued holding the Captains off the scoreboard until a free kick opportunity in the 68th minute. CNU's Corinne Kulik found the back of the net after ONU freshman goalkeeper Morgan Moeller (Harrison/Roger Bacon) deflected Molly Seventko's shot off the free kick.
- Seventko later scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with just 1:07 remaining.
- Cook and junior Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) led the Polar Bears with three shots each.
- Moeller played all 90 minutes in goal for ONU and recorded two saves.
- CNU finished with an 18-12 advantage in shots and 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

- Cook's goal was the first of her ONU career.
