ADA - Junior Shelby Stephens led the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Wilmington College Wednesday evening at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-5-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 7-4-0, 1-1-0.
Northern struck first as Stephens earned a free kick in the 13th minute and scored from 20 yards out to give the Polar Bears the early 1-0 lead.
The Quakers would get one back in the 23rd minute and knot the score at 1-1.
Seconds later, senior Alex Weirich scored her first goal of the season as she recieved a free kick from Stephens and beat the keeper with a header to give ONU a 2-1 lead.
ONU out shot the Quakers 13-7 on the evening, six of which were on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Emily Brodict improved to 6-5-1 on the year, while recording two saves on three Wilmington shots.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday as they take on OAC-foe Mount Union at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
