Hoersten leads Women's Lacrosse to a 20-7 victory against Muskingum on Senior Day

ADA — Junior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) scored a five-goal hat trick and had one assist to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 Senior Day victory over Muskingum at home on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

• Records: Ohio Northern (9-4 overall, 2-1 OAC), Muskingum (6-7 overall, 1-3 OAC).
• Venue: Dial Roberson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.

The Game

• Junior Elena Martin (Canfield) scored a four-goal hat trick and had one assist to help get the victory.
• Senior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) had three goals and two assists for five points.
• Senior Grace Wilson (Hope, Mich./Dow) finished with two goals and one assist.
• The Polar Bears opened the game strong with a 5-0 run in the first period. 
• After two Muskingum goals, Miller scored a goal at 1:11 in the first period to make it 6-2.
• The Orange and Black went on a 5-2 run in the second period, with five different Polar Bears scoring goals, to make it 12-4 heading into halftime.
• Martin scored the first goal of the second half at 13:33 to extend the lead to 13-4. 
• Northern led Muskingum 16-6 heading into the fourth period. 
• In the fourth period, ONU went on a 4-1 run to put the game out of reach at 20-7.
• The Muskies were led by Kenzie Bicking with two goals and one assist.
• Senior Alise Callahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) and Martin each had a team-high two caused turnovers for the Polar Bears.
• Freshman Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) had 11 saves to earn the win in goal. 
• ONU out-shot MU 30-20 and had the ground ball advantage 27-16.

• This win secured Northerns second winning season in program history.
• ONU leads the all-time series 9-1. 
• Hoersten now has eight hat tricks this season and 16 in her career.
• She is second in ONU history in career goals with 107 and is third with 130 points.
• Hoersten also leads the team this season in goals with 46.
• She has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 39.
• Burden is first all-time in Ohio Northern history with 214 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 119 assists and is third with 93 career goals.
• Burden and Hoersten each has a team-high 57 points this season.
• Martin leads the team with 55 draw controls this year and is third all-time with 164.
• Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her second season at Ohio Northern and has a 18-12 record, a winning percentage of .600.
