Women's Basketball falls 73-45 to Capital

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell 73-45 to Capital on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (12-7 Overall, 8-4 OAC), Capital (16-3 Overall, 10-2 OAC).

The Game
- Sophomore Chloee Glenn (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) led ONU with eight points and six rebounds.
- Junior Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) also had a team-high six rebounds to go with six points.
- Suprano and sophomore Gabi Croft (Spencerville) each led the team with three assists.
- Senior Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) added seven points and freshman Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) pitched in six points.
- Jenna Horsley led Capital with 14 points.
- Northern jumped out to a 9-2 lead with 5:11 left in the first quarter.
- The Polar Bears trailed 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.
- Capital went on an 11-0 run to lead 26-14 with 4:11 left in the first half.
- The Comets led 33-18 at halftime.
- CU started the second half on a 14-0 run to make the score 47-18 with 7:23 left in the third quarter.
- Capital led 57-34 after three quarters.
- Ohio Northern made 19-of-54 field goals for 34.7 percent and was 3-of-21 from beyond the arc for 14.3 percent, while Capital was 24-of-55 from the floor for 43.6 percent and finished 15-of-35 on 3-pointers for 42.9 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 4-of-8 free throws for 50.0 percent and the Comets were 10-of-10 from the line for 100 percent.
- CU out-rebounded ONU 38-29.

- Ohio Northern is now 41-61 all-time against Capital, including a 27-20 record in Ada.
- Luersman is now tied for 8th in ONU history with 638 career rebounds. She also has scored 783 points in 95 career games.
- This is the 53rd season of Ohio Northern women's basketball. The Polar Bears are now 771-515 all-time in program history for a winning percentage of .600.
- Fifth-year head coach Mark Huelsman is now 80-38 at Ohio Northern, a winning percentage of .678.
