Allen, Akamine, Dickson named Academic All-District in Women's Basketball by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Juniors Abi Akamine (Lahaina Hawaii/Lahainaluna), Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) and Abby Dickson (Germantown/Valley View) were named Academic All-District in women's basketball for 2023-24 by the College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA and must have played in 90 percent or started 66 percent of his or her team's games in a season.
Akamine started all 29 games this season at shooting guard for the Polar Bears.
This season, she averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
In 69 career games, Akamine averages 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest.
Allen is a two-year starter in the post and is now a two-time Second Team All-Conference honoree.
She averaged 9.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season after averaging 11.9 ppg and 5.5 rpg a year ago.
Allen will enter her senior season with 707 points, 385 rebounds and 39 blocked shots.
Dickson played in all 29 games at guard for Ohio Northern.
She averaged 3.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
In 65 career games, she averages 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
All three women are also two-time Academic All-OAC honorees.
The Polar Bears were 19-10 overall, finished third in the OAC with a 13-5 record, won the OAC Tournament and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA III Tournament this season under fourth-year head coach Mark Huelsman.
