Women's Basketball falls at Muskingum in regular season finale

MUSKINGUM — Sophomore Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) led the Ohio Northern women's basketball team with 17 points as the Polar Bears fell 61-54 at Muskingum on Saturday afternoon.

- Senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) tallied 11 points and had a team high 13 rebounds.
- Junior Layla Dials (Willard) posted seven points and three assists.
- Fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) chipped in five points, four steals, and three assists.
- Caitlyn DeMassimo led the Muskies with 17 points.
- A steal by Jada Benjamin (Parma/Valley Forge) and three-pointer by Serbin put the Polar Bears on top to end the first quarter 16-15.
- Suprano scored seven points in a 10-0 run in the second quarter to make it 29-22, Northern's biggest lead of the game
- Ohio Northern led 29-25 going into halftime.
- Muskingum outscored the Polar Bears 16-8 in the third quarter and led 41-37 going into the fourth.
- The Muskies finished the game outscoring the Polar Bears 20-17 in the fourth quarter.
- Ohio Northern made 21-of-63 field goals for 33.3 percent and was 5-of-29 from beyond the arc for 17.2% percent while Muskingum was 20-of-53 from the floor for 37.7 percent and finished 7-of-25 on three-pointers for 28.0 percent.
- ONU made 7-of-9 free throws for 77.8 percent and MU was 14-of-17 from the line for 82.4 percent.
- The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Muskies by a 42-34 margin.

- Suprano's 17-point game makes this her fourth game in double digits this season.
- Northern is now 51-44 all-time against Muskingum, including a 20-27 mark at Muskingum.
- ONU has clinched the No. 4 seed in the OAC Tournament Feb. 20-24 and will host a quarterfinal game against No. 5 seed John Carroll.
- Serbin is ONU's all-time leader in career steals with 292 and assists with 384.
- Serbin moved up on ONU's all-time career scoring list with 1254 points. She ranks third all-time with 181 made 3-pointers in her career, is 11th all-time in made free throws with 217, is 12th all-time in rebounds with 567 and tied for sixth all-time with 428 made field goals.
- Serbin is the only women's basketball player in ONU history to tally at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals in her career.
- Fourth-year head coach Mark Huelsman is now 65-30 at Ohio Northern, a winning percentage of .680.
