Saturday's Preview: The Polar Bears face Ohio Athletic Conference foe Marietta on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the first half of a women's-men's doubleheader in the ONU Sports Center … No attendance restrictions are in place, but Ohio Northern's COVID-19 policies will be strictly enforced … Saturday's game marks both Alumni Day and Bake a Difference Day for the Polar Bears … Northern is playing its Alumni Game on Saturday morning, and program alums will be recognized at halftime of the varsity game … The team is also unveiling its Women's Basketball Endowment plaque at halftime … Bake a Difference is the Polar Bears' fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and the team is raffling off prize baskets and selling baked goods with all proceeds being donated to the Amy Weeks Fund at the Karen Wellington Foundation …  In the teams' first matchup this season, ONU fell 60-52 at Marietta on Dec. 4 with senior Jaidyn Hale leading the way for the Polar Bears with 18 points ... ONU is coming off Wednesday's 54-39 win at Heidelberg … Northern led 26-21 at halftime and outscored HU 17-9 in the third quarter en route to the win … Junior Brynn Serbin recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists and two steals … Sophomore Kristen Luersman posted 10 points and four rebounds … Senior Alissa Stahler added seven points to go with six points apiece from Hale, sophomore Kasey Knippen and freshman Brooke Allen … Northern is averaging 61.7 points per game and allowing an OAC-low 47.1 points per contest … The Polar Bears are shooting 38.6% from the field, 29.2% on 3-pointers and 67.8% from the foul line … Northern currently has four players averaging between 7 and 10 points per game in what is a balanced offensive attack … Stahler (9.1 points per game) leads ONU in scoring followed by Serbin (8.8), Luersman (7.8) and Hale (7.3) … Stahler's team-high 6.0 rebounds per game ranks sixth in the OAC … Serbin leads the team in steals (37) and assists (42), which rank first and sixth, respectively, in the OAC … Serbin's 111 career steals rank 19th on the program's all-time leaderboard … Knippen has made a team-high 15 3-pointers and ranks second in the OAC in making 48.4% of her shots from beyond the arc … Following Saturday's game, ONU will face OAC foe Wilmington at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. … Marietta enters Saturday's game ranked No. 16 nationally in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll … At 15-1, Marietta has tied its best start in program history … MC's only loss thus far is a 66-41 defeat at then-No. 20 Baldwin Wallace on Dec. 12 … The Pioneers are riding a nine-game win streak capped by Wednesday's 91-69 home win over Capital … The Pioneers finished with four double-figure scorers in the game led by sophomore Olivia Gribble with 17 points … MC is averaging an OAC-high 72.6 points per game while allowing 59.0 points per contest … The Pioneers are shooting 39.5% from the floor, 31.3% on 3-pointers and 71.4% from the foul line … Marietta is led in scoring by Gribble (10.3 points per game) and junior Erin Hahn (9.8) … Gribble has made a team-high 38 3-pointers on 38.4% shooting from beyond the arc, which rank second and seventh, respectively, in the OAC … Hahn leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game and in total blocks with 14, which rank fourth and eighth, respectively, in the OAC … Sophomore Hannah Schill has a team-high 45 assists and 28 steals, which rank third and fifth, respectively, in the OAC.
