Junior Britt Lauck earns All-Tournament Team honors as the No. 15 ranked Women's Basketball team downs Centre (Ky.) 85-47

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — The No. 15 Ohio Northern women's basketball team downed Centre (Ky.) 85-47 Sunday afternoon in the second day of the Thomas More Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center.
Northern improves to 3-2 overall, while Centre falls to 1-5.
ONU saw four players score in double digits, junior Angela Tesny and senior Brooke Espenschied tied for a team-high 12 points, while junior Britt Lauck and sophomore Amy Bullimore added 10 points.
Lauck earned All-Tournament team honors for her efforts.
Northern pulled down 41 rebounds and forced 20 turnovers in the contest.
The Polar Bears jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first quarter as senior Karissa Steffas was able to get a rebound and layup with 8:41 to play in the quarter.
Centre would finally break the scoreless drought with 7:48 to play but the Northern offense would string together another run en route to the 10-2 advantage.
Northern would take the 19-14 first quarter lead as both teams were held scoreless for the final 2:28.
Bullimore wasted no time extending the ONU lead as she made a layup with 9:45 to play till the break putting Northern on top 21-14.
A three from sophomore Courtney Cramer with 4:20 remaining would cap an ONU 11-0 run, extending the lead once more to 32-16.
Northern would out score the Colonels in the second quarter 22-8 to take the 41-22 halftime advantage.
Centre would open the third quarter with a run of its own led by senior Alexis Guy cutting the deficit to 44-27 with 7:43 remaining in the quarter.
The Polar Bears offense didn't let up as a jumper from freshman Jenna Dirksen would give ONU the 50-27 lead.
Northern entered the fourth quarter leading 56-37 after a made jumper from Lauck.
Espenschied would lead Northern in the fourth quarter as she scored six of her 12 total points leading Northern to the 85-47 victory.
Centre was led in the contest by freshman Katie Moore with a game-high 14 points.
Northern returns to action Wednesday as they begin Ohio Athletic Conference play with Otterbein at the ONU Sports Center, tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
