Men's Cross Country finishes fourth of 21 at Roanoke (Va.) South Region Showdown

SALEM, Va. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished fourth of 21 teams at the Roanoke (Va.) South Region Showdown Invitational Saturday morning.
The Basics
- Record: Ohio Northern (45-9 Overall).
- Race Info: The event was an 8,000-meter race held at the Green Hill Park Cross Country Course.
- ONU placed 4th out of 21 teams with 116 points.
Race Results
- The field consisted of 30 collegiate varsity teams from all over the Southern Region.
- NCAA Division I foe East Tennessee State won the team title with 34 points, Pfeiffer (N.C.) was second with 65 points, #18 Washington & Lee (Va.) was third with 100 points and Roanoke (Va.) was fifth with 137 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Senior Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) led the Polar Bears across the finish line in 25.29, finishing 16th of 239 runners.
- Sophomore Chris Bond (Franklin) finished 23rd in 25.50.
- Sophomore Dudley Bravard (Beavercreek) was 31st in 26.07.
- Freshman Carson Brown (Botkins) was 46th in 26.43.
- Senior Ethan Kemp (Mount Gilead) was 49th in 26.49.
Notables
- This is the last regular season meet prior to the OAC Championships at Otterbein on Nov. 1.
- It is the first time Carson Brown has finished as a top 5 runner for the Polar Bears this year.
- Ohio Northern beat two nationally ranked teams, including #19 Lynchburg (Va.) and NAIA #6 Milligan (Tenn.)
- Bond has an amazing day with a huge personal best, shaving off 33 seconds of his previous time 26.23.
- Bravard hits a personal best taking off 34 seconds from his previous time 26.41.
- Brown hits a personal best beating his previous best 27.00 by 17 seconds.
- Kemp beats his previous best by 1 second.
- 17th-year head coach Jason Maus is now 1,650-432 as head coach of the ONU men's cross country program and is the winningest coach in program history.
