No. 33 Men's Cross Country finishes tops in Division III at All-Ohio Intercollegiate Challenge

CEDARVILLE — The No. 33 Ohio Northern men's cross country team won the Division III title at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Challenge on Friday evening, marking the first time ONU won the Division III title at the event since 2017 and sixth time overall.

- In the Division III category, the Polar Bears finished 39 points better than second-place Otterbein with 108 points.
- John Carroll (109 points), Case Western Reserve (133 points) and Kenyon (172 points) rounded out the top five teams.
- Northern finished fourth overall among 31 teams from all divisions, scoring 175 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Junior Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) led ONU across the finish line, placing seventh among Division III runners, and 19th among 464 runners from all divisions, in 25:27.55.
- Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell Loudon) was ninth in Division III, and 26th overall, in 25:33.76.
- Senior Jared Swartz (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 14th in Division III, and 40th overall, in 25:51.84.
- Sophomore Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) was 16th in Division III, and 42nd overall, in 25:53.20.
- Senior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) was 23rd in Division III, and 57th overall, in 26:03.61.
Notables
- Simon Heys of Wilmington won the Division III individual title, and placed second overall, in 24:27.37.
- This marked the second straight first-place finish for ONU, as the Polar Bears placed first at the NCAC Preview Meet on Sept. 9.
- This marked the second straight meet that Massie has been ONU's top finisher, and he matched his career-best time of 25:27.
- Swartz's time was a career best, beating his old record time of 26:03.
- Clouse also ran a personal-best time, beating out his old top time of 27:14.
