Men's Tennis drops tight 4-3 decision indoors at Oberlin

OBERLIN — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team dropped a tight 4-3 decision at Oberlin indoors at the Huntsman Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Basics

Individual Highlights
- Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and freshman Noah Boyce (Oakwood) each won twice to lead the Polar Bears.
- Schultz won 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Boyce won 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
- The duo combined to win 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) won 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(5) at No. 3 singles.
- Senior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and won 7-6 at No. 1 doubles.
- Sophomore Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) took his opponent to a third set tiebreaker at No. 5 singles before falling 4-6, 6-2, 4-10.
Notables
- Oberlin won the doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches, then won three of the six singles courts to record the victory.
- The first four singles courts all went three sets, with the Polar Bears winning three of them.
- The No. 1 doubles court went to a tiebreaker.
- The NCAA had adopted a 7-point team scoring system for Division III, where the three doubles contests only count for one team point as is used in NCAA Divisions I and II.
- Boyce leads the team with an 11-3 singles record and a 16-11 overall record.
- Wood has a team-best 7-7 doubles record.
- Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 35-16 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .686.
