No. 16 Men's Swimming & Diving wins Golden Kickboard trophy, OAC Regular Season title outright with 159-82 victory at B-W
BEREA — The No. 16-ranked Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team clinched its sixth consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a 159-82 victory at Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday at the Lou Higgins Center.
The Polar Bears (10-1 overall, 5-0 OAC) also claimed the Golden Kickboard trophy with the victory over the Yellow Jackets (3-6, 2-2).
Northern also extended its school-record OAC winning streak to 25 meets.
ONU won 10 of the 13 events, led by senior diver Nick Meyer.
Meyer swept the two diving events, winning the 1-meter voluntary with 236.05 points and the 1-meter optional with 161.85 points.
Seven other Polar Bears won individual events for ONU.
Senior All-American Michael Schultz won the 1650-yard free in 16:52.02 and senior Joey Bechtel won the 100 back in :56.96.
Junior Drew Keriazes won the 200 free in 1:48, 80 and juniur Marc Anderson won the 50 free in :22.26.
Sophomore John Beaschler won the 100 fly in :55.41, freshman Brian Heilbronner won the 100 free in :49.32 and freshman Jason Luthman won the 100 breast in 1:04.35.
ONU's 400 medley relay team of Heilbronner, Keriazes, Anderson and Beaschler won in 3:38.78.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season with a pair of home meets next weekend, hosting Notre Dame (Ohio) Friday night and No. 12-ranked Case Western Reserve on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
