HANOVER, Ind. — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team won its third straight game on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hanover (Ind.) 2-0 at the Soccer Complex.
The Polar Bears recorded their third consecutive shutout to improve to 4-2-0 on the season while dropping the Panthers to 2-3-1.
Sophomores Brenden Gervers (Grand Blanc., Mich.) and Kellan Minch (Beavercreek) each scored a goal for Northern in the victory.
Gervers gave the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 29th minute and carried that edge into halftime.
Minch padded ONU's lead in the 81st minute, scoring a goal on assists from seniors Aaron Shelton (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) and Josh Ellis (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne).
Ellis (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne) recorded seven saves in goal for ONU in the shutout.
The Polar Bears out-shot Hanover 13-10, while the Panthers finished with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Northern returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they host Rose-Hulman (Ind.) at 4 p.m.
