Men's Lacrosse wraps up regular season at home with 20-2 victory Wilmington

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team wrapped up its regular season with a 20-2 victory over Wilmington on a chilly Wednesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (12-5 overall, 7-2 OAC), Wilmington (4-13 overall, 0-9 OAC).
• Venue: Dial-Roberson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.

The Game

• Senior Aidan Dempsey (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) had a 3-goal hat trick and senior Sebastian Michaud (Springboro) had 3 points on 2 goals and one assist for Ohio Northern.
• The Polar Bears had 14 different players score in the game.
• Northern set the tone right away, scoring just 17 seconds into the match and adding a second goal just 42 seconds later.
• ONU led 7-0 after the first quarter, 14-0 at halftime and 19-0 entering the fourth quarter.
• Fifth-year senior Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) did not face a shot in 19-plus minutes of playing time in goal to earn his 12th victory of the season.
• Ohio Northern out-shot WC 66-8 and won 25 of the 26 faceoffs.

• The Polar Bears finished the regular season tied for third place in the OAC standings with Capital with 7-2 records.
• Northern will be the No. 4 seed in the 6-team OAC Tournament and will host Otterbein in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 1 pm.
• ONU clinched a spot in the 6-team OAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive season.
• Dempsey now ranks fifth all-time in ONU history with 137 points in his career. He ranks third with 98 career goals and is fifth with 40 assists.
• He also leads the team in scoring this season with 41 goals, 12 assists and 53 points.
• In all, 26 different Polar Bears have scored goals this season with five more adding at least one assist.
• Senior Chad Calderwood (Portland, Ore./Episcopal) went 9-for-9 on faceoffs on the day, extending his school record to 415 for his career. 
• Michaud had two goals and is now sixth at ONU with 72 career goals, is seventh with 31 assists and has 103 career points.
• Fifth-year senior Riley O'Neal (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) is sixth with 39 career assists.
• Zaferakis holds the ONU career records for saves (572), wins (48) and goalie minutes played (3,672).
• Ohio Northern is now 7-1 all-time against Wilmington, including a 4-0 record at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
• Head coach Nat St.Laurent is in his ninth season at Ohio Northern with a 91-47 record and has a winning percentage of .659.
