Men's Golf third of six after first round of Bluffton Beaver Classic

BLUFFTON — The Ohio Northern men's golf team is in third place out of seven teams after the first day of the Bluffton Beaver Classic on Saturday at the Bluffton Golf Club.

The Polar Bears (7-9-1 overall) carded a 17-over par 305. Lourdes is in first place with a 301, Bluffton is second with a 302 and Tiffin is fourth with a 317.

Ohio Northern's "B" team carded a 314.

Senior Jared Hernandez (Van Wert) led ONU with a 75, placing eighth of 48 golfers on the par-72 course.

Senior Nolan Kimberly (Zanesville) is tied for ninth with a 76, seniors Andrew Slusher (Covington) and Austin White (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) are tied or 12th with 77s and Josh Steyer is tied for 32nd with an 85.

David Walsh (Mason/Moeller) is tied for fifth with a 74 for the ONU "B" squad and sophomore Jacob Brooks (New Albany) is tied for fifth with a 74 playing as an individual for ONU.

Jack Murphy of Lourdes leads the individual standings with a 71.

The Polar Bears will conclude play in the 36-hole Bluffton Beaver Classic on Sunday at 10 am.
