Freshman Rick Deichert leads Men's Golf after first round of 2013 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — Freshman Rick Deichert fired a first round 3-over par 75 to lead Ohio Northern at the 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships Friday at the River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (53-27-3 overall) are in fourth place of seven teams with 311 strokes after 18 holes of the 72-hole tournament.
The players completed 27 holes on Friday, but results of the last nine holes are not immediately available.
Sophomore Andrew Quintrell shot a 4-over par 76 and is tied for sixth out of 35 golfers.
Juniors Colin Burns and Ryan Wirtz each shot 80s and are tied for 21st and sophomore Ted Loewendick is tied for 27th with an 82.
Otterbein holds the team lead with a 302, John Carroll is second with a 303 and Mount Union is third with a 304.
Otterbein's Nicholas Rhodes is in first place individually with a 2-under par 70.
The teams will play 27 more holes on Saturday and will finish the tournament with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
