ADA — Sophomore linebacker Peyton Wilson (Lima/Shawnee) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 1-7.
This is Wilson's second such accolade of his career, as he also earned it once during his freshman season.
On Saturday against No. 21 Baldwin Wallace, Wilson tallied a career-high 18 tackles and his first sack of the season as the Polar Bear defense held the Yellow Jackets to 335 yards of total offense in a narrow 17-14 defeat.
Wilson ranks second on the team in tackles with 72 this season to go with four tackles for loss.
This marks the second straight week for a Polar Bear to earn the Defensive Player of the Week accolade, as senior Jevon Taylor (Fort Wayne, Ind./North) won the award for the week of Oct. 25-31.
Ohio Northern returns to the field on Saturday to host Heidelberg for the team's Senior Day and regular-season finale.
