Football falls to Capital 35-28

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team dropped a 35-28 decision to Capital on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-3 overall and are 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Comets improve to 2-5, 1-5.
Northern scored three second quarter touchdowns to rally from a 6-0 deficit.
Senior Chase Rose (Kenton/Upper Scioto Valley) caught a 4-yard TD pass from senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) with 8:01 left in the first half to give ONU a 7-6 lead.
Senior Austin Eick (Rossford) caught a 32-yard TD pass from Hahn with 5:07 left in the half and a 47-yard TD pass from Hahn with 1:53 left in the half to give Ohio Northern a 21-6 lead.
Capital answered with 28 straight points to lead 35-21 with 11:47 left in the game.
Comet quarterback Ben Everson completed a 37-yard TD pass to Kameron Lee with 17 seconds left in the half to make it 21-14 ONU at intermission.
He then completed TD passes of 33, 18 and 5 yards in the first 18 minutes of the third quarter to give CU a two-score lead.
Senior Trevor McConnell (Troy, Mich./Cranbrook) came off the bench in the second half and directed a 15-play, 96-yard scoring drive and hit Rose on a 7-yard touchdown pass with 4:31 left to get the Polar Bears within 35-28.
Northern's onside kick attempt was nearly successful, but the ball bounced out of bounds jest before ONU could recover it.
The Comets then converted three consecutive third downs and ran out the clock.
Hahn completed 12-of-22 passes for 243 yards and three TDs in the first half and McConnell was 10-of-23 passing for 122 yards and a score in the second half for ONU.
Junior Josh Bever (Ashland) had 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks to lead the Ohio Northern defense.
Eick caught six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns and Rose finished with six receptions for 64 yards and two scores for the Northern offense.
Capital out-gained Ohio Northern 420-409 in total offense.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at No. 4-ranked Mount Union.
