ONU Last Week: Head coach Dean Paul picked up his 100th career coaching victory at Ohio Northern on Saturday in a hard-fought 13-7 win at Otterbein. ONU went up 3-0 on a 30-yard field goal by K Chase Watson with 5:16 gone in the contest. QB Anthony McFadden then hit WR Anthony Amison on a 45-yard touchdown pass with 11:16 left in the half to make it 10-0 Polar Bears. The Cardinals closed to within 10-7 early in the fourth quarter, but ONU marched 72 yards in 10 plays, taking 3:05 off the clock, and extended the lead to 13-7 with a 36-yard field goal by Watson with 3:25 to play.
ONU Leaders: The ONU running game is led by RB A.J. Marks (41 att, 352 yards, 2 TDs), RB Brock Martin (66 att, 312 yards, 7 TDs) and QB Anthony McFadden (46 att, 275 yards). QB Anthony McFadden is 61-of-99 passing for 789 yards and 8 TDs. WR Chad Rex (29 rec, 307 yards, 3 TDs) and WR Caleb Saalfeld (12 rec, 230 yards, 2 TDs) lead the receiving corps. LB Mark Niles, S Andrew Valenti and LB David Haseleu and lead the defense with 50, 35 and 31 tackles, respectively.
MC Last Week: Marietta was idle last week, but is coming off a 46-20 victory over Muskingum on Sept. 15. QB Darrien Fields threw for 311 yards and 3 TDs and RB Tanner Clark ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards for a score and had 80 yards rushing. MC led 23-6 at halftime and 30-13 after three quarters and scored 10 points in the final 1:30 to seal the game. Jake Tracewell had a game-high 11 tackles for MC. Marietta out-gained Muskingum 467-411 in total offense.
MC Leaders: The MC running game is led by RB Tanner Clark (69 att, 519 yards, 9 TDs) and QB Darrien Fields (22 att, 45 yards). QB Darrien Fields is 51-of-77 passing for 725 yards and 6 TDs. WR Maguire Morris (19 rec, 171 yards) and WR Andrew Barker (13 rec, 327 yards, 4 TDs) lead the MC receivers. LB Garrett Davis, S Javi Zaragoza and LB Jake Tracewell lead the defense with 36, 24 and 23 tackles, respectively. LB Jake Tracewell leads MC with 1.5 sacks.
Last Year's Game: Marietta ascored with 1:22 left and held off a valient ONU rally to win 35-28 in Ada. ONU appearewd to score on a 16-yard pass with 37 seconds left, but it was called back on a penalty. ONU drove back to the MC 7-yard line, but an incomplete pass on a 4th-and-4 with 3 seconds left ended the scoring threat. Marietta's Roger Walker ran 36 times for 264 yards and 4 TDs, including a 66-yard TD run with 1:22 left in the game to break the 28-all tie. RB Christiaan Williams ran 17 times for 66 yards and had 125 yards of total offense for ONU. LB Zach Schmerge had a season-high 19 tackles and S Andrew Valenti had 10 tackles, a blocked a field goal and a blocked PAT for the Polar Bears.
