Tuesday's Preview: The Ohio Northern baseball team is hosting a non-conference game against Trine (Ind.) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. … The Polar Bears are coming off Saturday's doubleheader at No. 1 Marietta as they opened Ohio Athletic Conference play … Marietta won the first game 8-0, and the Polar Bears took Game 2 by a score of 3-2 … In the 3-2 victory, junior Tim Knapschaefer got the pitching start for the Polar Bears and earned his first win of the season after throwing seven scoreless innings while allowing just six hits and one walk and striking out five en route to being named OAC Pitcher of the Week … Sophomore Noah Truax pitched the final two innings and notched a pair of strikeouts as he picked up his first save of the season … Freshman Hunter Kauser and senior Corey McMann each hit RBI doubles in the game … Junior Jacob Wenning finished with a team-high four hits in the doubleheader, including a double in the Game 2 win … Wenning hit for a .556 average with 10 hits, including four doubles, over five games last week and was named the OAC Hitter of the Week … Wenning leads the team in batting average (.385) and hits (20) on the season … Junior Nate Webb leads ONU in runs (11) and RBIs (12) … McMann has a team-high six doubles this season and is tied for fifth all-time at ONU with 36 career doubles … McMann is tied for 38th in program history with 129 career hits … Senior Chayten Overholt needs 15 hits to join the 100-Hit Club … Freshman Joey Kennedy leads ONU in steals with eight, which is tied for fifth in the OAC … Truax leads the Polar Bears' pitching staff in wins (2), ERA (1.86) and strikeouts (20) … Truax ranks ninth in the OAC in ERA … Trine (Ind.) enters Tuesday's game at 5-9 overall coming off losses of 12-2 and 11-5 in a doubleheader at Franklin (Ind.) last Thursday … Senior Brenden Warner leads the Thunder in hits (16) and has a team-high five doubles … Sophomore Dalton Nikirk has a team-high 11 RBIs … Junior Matt Weis has a team-leading .379 batting average … Sophomore Josh Hoogewerf leads the Trine pitching staff in strikeouts with 22 to go with a 3.38 ERA over 21.1 innings.
