Samatha Roth, Carson Zurmehly named Ohio Northern's Polar Bear of the Month for September

ADA — Senior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) and sophomore Carson Zurmehly (Batavia/McNicholas) were named the Ohio Northern Women's and Men's Polar Bear of the Month for September.

Roth led the Ohio Northern women's cross country team (20-5 overall) across the finish line in both races in September, as the Polar Bears (20-5 overall) won the Otterbein Invitational and were fifth at the All-Ohio Championships.

Roth's time of 22:19 at Otterbein was her career-best and ranks her 13th all-time in ONU history for 8,000-meters.

Zurmehly was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week four times during September, as he helped the No. 24-ranked Polar Bears (7-0-4 overall, 2-0-0 OAC) to an undefeated 3-0-4 record during the month.

He has 23 saves and a 0.71 goals against average in the seven matches in goal.
