Serbin, Allen lead Women's Basketball to 67-54 win at Otterbein to improve to 5-0 in OAC play

WESTERVILLE — Fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and junior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) combined for 43 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 67-54 win at Otterbein on Wednesday night to remain unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The Game
- Serbin led the Polar Bears with 25 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and seven steals. She was 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
- Allen added 18 points and 12 rebounds for her third career double-double.
- Sophomore Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) chipped in nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals for ONU.
- Kyla Irby led three Cardinals in double figures with 16 points.
- ONU led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and outscored Otterbein 14-9 in the second to take a 29-21 halftime lead.
- The Cardinals opened the third quarter with a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to two, 32-30, with 6:30 left.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers from Serbin and Suprano stretched the ONU lead to 38-30 with 4:13 remaining in the third period.
- OU cut the deficit to one, 43-42, going into the fourth quarter but was outscored 24-12 over the final 10 minutes.
- The Polar Bears opened the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run courtesy of six points from Allen, three from Suprano and two each from Serbin and freshman Chloee Glenn (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) for a 56-42 edge with 4:52 left.
- A Serbin 3-pointer with 3:19 remaining put ONU up 61-46 en route to the victory.
- Ohio Northern made 24-of-60 field goals for 40% and was 9-of-21 from beyond the arc for 42.9%, while Otterbein was 20-of-55 from the floor for 36.4% and made 7-of-19 3-pointers for 36.8%.
- ONU made 10-of-17 free throws for 58.8%, and OU was 7-of-9 from the line for 77.8%.
- The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Cardinals by a 43-32 margin and finished with a 21-11 edge in second-chance points.

- ONU is off to a 5-0 start in OAC play for the second straight season. The Polar Bears started 9-0 in OAC play and won the conference's regular season and tournament titles in 2022-23.
- Northern is now 60-36 all-time against Otterbein, including a 26-20 mark in Westerville.
- Serbin tied her single-game career high with 25 points.
- Suprano set her single-game career high in rebounds and matched her career best in assists.
- Serbin is ONU's all-time leader in career steals with 251 and assists with 330.
- Serbin ranks 13th on ONU's all-time career scoring list with 1,063 points. She ranks fourth all-time with 155 made 3-pointers in her career, is 13th all-time in made free throws with 190 and is 16th all-time in rebounds with 502.
- Serbin is just the second ONU women's basketball player to tally 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists in her career.
- Serbin is tied for 20th all-time at ONU with 359 made field goals.
