ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern men's cross country program looks to win its fourth straight Ohio Athletic Conference crown Saturday, October 27 as the Polar Bears compete in the 2018 OAC Championships ... All races will be ran at Sable Creek Golf Course in Hartville, Ohio ... The women's 6k championship is slated for an 11 a.m. start with the men's 8k championship to follow, beginning at approximately 12:15 p.m. ... The Polar Bears are coming off a strong fourth-place performance in a 33-team field at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational ... Senior All-American Ian McVey captured his fourth individual title of the season at the event, crossing the tape in 24:40 ... He enters the weekend as the reigning OAC Champion from 2017 and as a three-time All-OAC honoree ... Senior Spencer Schulze ended 27th overall and second on the team in 26:00 at Wilmington ... Schulze enters the championship race as a two-time Second-Team All-OAC finisher ... Freshman Caden Sauerbrey, sophomore Travis Sutter, and sophomore Jordan Green wound up 31st in 26:09, 50th in 26:29, and 54th in 26:34 to finish third-through-fifth on the team, respectively ... Freshman Patrick Baker claimed sixth on the team with a 26:39 clocking while sophomore Sam Krabacher rounded out the top-seven finishers in 26:48.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is currently in his 10th season as head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Ohio Northern ... He has guided the men's program to a 1,041-231 record, a winning percentage of .818 … Maus currently stands as the all-time winningest coach in school history for both men's and women's cross country.
