All-American Ian McVey wins his fourth race of the year, leads Men's Cross Country to fourth place finish at Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational

WILMINGTON— Senior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) won his fourth race of the season, leading the Ohio Northern men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Wilmington Jenna Strong Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Wilmington Cross Country Course.
The Polar Bears (63-18 overall) finished with 131 points to place fourth of 34 teams.
ONU fell only to Miami (Ohio), Shawnee State and Northern Kentucky, who finished 1-2-3 with 58, 86 and 113 points, respectively.
Northern was first of the 11 NCAA Division III schools.
McVey was actually the second runner across the finish line, but won the race among collegiate competitors in 24:40.
Current Marietta assitant coach Makorobondo Salukombo won the race running unattached in 24:24.
Senior Spencer Schulze (St. Henry) was 27th of 369 runners in 26:00 and freshman Caden Sauerbrey (Dresden/Tri-Valley) was 31st in 26:09.
Sophomore Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) was 50th in 26:29 and sophomore Jordan Green (Wooster) was 54th in 26:34 to round out ONU's top five.
Miami (Ohio) won the team title with 58 points, Shawnee State was second with 86, Northern Kentucky was third with 113 and Wooster was fifth with 200 points.
"This was a good ay for our men's team," ONU head coach Jason Maus said. "We beat 30 teams and were very good against some strong schools. ."
The Polar Bears will take a week off before returning to action Oct. 27 with the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Mount Union.
