Junior Cully Gordon has career day as men's cross country finishes second at Calvin (Mich.) Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team finished second of 27 teams Saturday afternoon as they competed in the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational in Grand Rapids Michigan.
The Polar Bears (29-1 overall) placed six athletes in the top-20 runners at the event.
No. 16-ranked Calvin (Mich.) won the event with 57 points, Ohio Northern was second with 59 points and Allegheny (Pa.) took third place with 66 points.
Junior Cully Gordon led the Polar Bears across the finish line, finishing with a career-best time of 25:27.8 and placing fifth overall.
Senior Matthew Ernstes also had a career-day as he finished in 25:51.0 and placed 17th overall.
Junior Aaren Hemmelgarn posted a career-best time, finishing in 25:55.5 and placing 20th overall.
Also placing in the top-10 for Northern was junior Andrew Harden, who finished seventh in 25:30.2.
Junior Kase Schalois finished 14th overall in 25:45.9, while senior Eric Wymer finished in 16th place in 25:48.1.
The Polar Bears will return to the course as they travel to the Rochester (N.Y.) Invitational Saturday at 11 am.
