Men's Tennis opens spring break trip with 6-3 victory over Macalester (Minn.)

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its annual spring break trip with a 6-3 victory over Macalester (Minn.) on Sunday night at the United States Tennis Academy.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (8-4 overall), Macalester (2-5 overall)

The Match
- Northern swept the three doubles courts and won singles courts at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 to notch the win.
- Junior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and freshman Tyler Wood (Toldeo/St. John's Jesuit) won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and freshman Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) and junior Drew Swisher (Findlay) won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles to give ONU a 2-0 lead.
- Junior Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) and sophomore T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 1.
- Wood made it 4-0 Polar Bears with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
- Hackenberger clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
- MC would take the Nos. 1, 2 and 5 singles courts to pull within 5-3.
- Schultz wrapped up the match with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
Notables
- The match was Northern's first of its five-match spring break trip this week.
- Wood, Hackenberger and Schultz each went 2-0 on the day.
- Wood leads the team with a 11-5 singles record.
- Specht has a team-best 13-4 doubles mark and Hackenberger is a team-best 21-5 overall.
- ONU is now 1-1 all-time against MC.
